No lashes, no brows, no sunbeds or tan, no botox or fillers, long roots and unconditioned hair, pimples and pigmentation, wobbly bits and stretch marks…. this is me.
We have all been stripped back to basics. But, is it such a bad thing? Were all the things we had truly necessary? Are we all striving to reach perfection, destined to never truly feel satisfaction? Why do we always want more? Do we really live in reality or do we live in a world of filters, unrealistic goals and surgical beauty? What are you really trying to achieve? Will you ever be truly satisfied? Are we trying to create an image on the outside to mask the pain we hold inside ourselves? You are your own worst critic! Will I ever have beauty treatments again? Yes, definitely! But learning to love the real me must come first!
Lockdown is a time we have all been given to reflect on ourselves… a break from life! Freedom from the fast paced challenging ever-changing world we now live in. Time to evaluate what really matters, the things we hadn’t had the time to do or had simply forgotten to appreciate. Family! A hug from your father or a kiss from your mother. Friends! The ones you wish you had made time for, to call or simply gossip over a cup of tea.
Time to reflect on yourself and see how far you have come and where you want to go next?
Reflection is something I for one have committed to do during lockdown. I’m far from perfect and I’ve made many mistakes in my life, but I’ve learnt not to dwell on the past. In the world we live in it’s very easy to become lost! With constant pressure from social platforms, the media and magazines it is easy to compare yourself to a false portrayal of others. To allow self doubt in! To give yourself unachievable goals! No one is perfect! The world isn’t perfect! The world is forever evolving which means so are we! Learn from the mistakes you make in life and use that new knowledge to shape your future!
Don’t apply unnecessary pressure on yourself and forever “living for the weekend”. Live in the moment and enjoy the moment you’re in! Don’t miss out on opportunities today worrying about tomorrow’s possibilities! Everything is moving too quickly. Don’t get stuck in its cycle… use it to you’re advantage. Be confident in who you are. Don’t be afraid to tread water for a moment to reflect on who you are and check you’re going in the right direction!
Know your own identity! Our minds are influenced everywhere we go nowadays. It’s hard to stay true to yourself and keep your own identity to not become a clone of your environment. I’ve written this blog so I can take a moment to remember who I am. Hopefully this creates some questions for you to? What truly makes you happy? What do we really need in life! Surround yourself with positive people and make changes that will improve your future. Be the best version of yourself!
Learn to love yourself and everything else will prevail. Use lockdown as a positive, not a negative. Take it as time given for you.
To be continued….
